This is a rather disturbing story of what happened to a couple accused of theft at Bangkok Airport....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8154497.stm

I don't think I'll bother going there ever again. Even the Sex industry is offered to you and when you say No they just keep asking and asking.

I hear that away from the Capital it's very nice though.

A very sad story.

But the message here is very very clear.

Don't go anywhere and make sure you lock yourself in a dark, isolated place so as not to expose yourself to the dangers of the outside world.

Works for me.:raf:

Bangkok King Power

Bangkok King Power

Perhaps I missed Shugsters point, but exactly what has the sex industry got to do with Bangkok airport. Anyone who has passed through BKK airport will know that the ratio of staff to customers is so great as to preclude almost any attempt to shoplift. King Power may actually own the complete shopping concourse in fact, so the shop lifting may be difficult to prove in law, although the law in Thailand does go its own merry way.

I have no doubt that the scam here revolves around an arrangement between some Duty Free staff and some members of the worlds finest Police force-NOT! Brown envelopes grease the wheels of many countries! Ask a good number of MP's!

I was referring to downtown Bangkok where you get hassled.

I did some work for the Dept. of Scienece services there and ventured out on my first night. After that I stayed in the Hotel until I was finished.

Best idea is to get out of Bangkok ASAP, not the greatest city in the world. Maybe stay for a day then head south.

Bangkok - Great city, great culture, no hassle and lots of fun fun fun. I must have spent a week in a totally different city to you lot.

But sorry I forgot that every city in England is so fcuking great.

I must admit to having as much hassle in squeeky clean Singapore as in Bangkok, culprits were the same in both places--freakin' Indian tailors!
twas like the Fast Show--suit sir, suit sir-no!-suit sir-NO!!-suit sir-**** off!-grrrr.

The city I dislike the most-easy-London.

We went to Phuket last year and it was fantastic, we flew via Kuala Lumpur so didn't do the Bangkok thing. Everyone has their own opinion and as always, read up on it first.
