Good morning all.

Recently passed my final interview back at the AFCO in Redruth for SNCO ATC. The process has taken around 3years since intial inquries, had to wait 12months after the Lasic eye surgery (removing glasses and contacts) and then a nasty injury to my thumb a few days before i was set for the boarding process.
Stuck with it all and then when i had my chance i fully enjoyed the entire application process, very 1st multiple choice test, interview, aptitude at Cranwell, OASC boarding process and then PRTC. (ps Corporal W******* who was in charge of the PRTC is a legend).
Attestation is the 26th of Sept, then i've heard from many people that the 10week Sergeants course at Cranwell is 1 of the toughest, bring it on!
I'm looking forward to helping other people who are about to go through the same process, since it's all still very fresh in my mind :)

Cheers, Chris Hannibal

And so it should, most of us have undertaken years to learn and then not all get it right.

it's not something i'll be taking lightly, obviously still have RTC to get through first. After such a long application i just can't wait to get going now

Not sure if you are still placed on the NCAITC for 10 weeks or if they have developed a seperate course for ATC candidates...To give you a flavour of the NCAITC use the search feature on here and it should bring up some threads on it.

It's physically and mentally demanding and when I last enquired from from of the course commanders down there I was made aware that there was a high failure rate from the ATC candidates.

Get fit...keep yourself injury free [incl. niggles] whilst doing it (if there is one thing that the ITC spectacuarly succeeds at it is making a niggle into an issue), learn to listen, learn when to keep it zipped....

As far as i'm aware it is still that same NCAITC 10 weeks course. Only because in every interview i've obviously been asked what my training will consist of, i've answered with that (after RTC of course) and then told the interviewer the break down on that course from week to week. Usually getting the response of 'good, good'. Just had a quick peek on the RAF careers and it's definitely still there, 'Stage 2'... basic phase / leadership / learning phase / military simulation and then the graduation.

Very very true about learning when to keep it zipped. If there's anything i've learnt so far it's been the 'form' while doing the fitness tests and shutting up when there's no need to talk.

As far as I know the SNCO ATC hopefuls still attend the same course as the NCA. I left Crantanamo in May of this year and it was this way.

In that case as long as you're fit when you arrive parts of it can be classed as 'enjoyable'...attention to detail in everything you do is a huge consideration as is credibility. Many have successfully passed it, few have done so without some kind of knee/hip/ankle type niggle/injury. I treated the NCAITC as a game...They wanted to see you leave your comfort bubble so you facilitated that appearance..whether you actually reached that level of fatigue and stress only you will know.

i do like my fitness so hopefully i'll be able to 'enjoy' some of it! I'm on a 9min 1.5mile, a comfortable level 11 on the MSFT and i could be doing more with those easily. The injury issue i suppose is just down to luck and how you look after yourself. I do enjoy my sleep at the moment but hopefully RTC will sort me out with my sleeping pattern; i'm fully expecting sleep deprivation

Hey, i've just left Halton after completing RTS and moved on to Cosford. I have a friend that has just finished the Sergeants course at Cranditz, very tough by all accounts! All the best matey!
