Howdo folks.
I'm due to be posted and have my move out/in of quarter all sorted, removals booked etc.
However, when looking through the paperwork i noticed that I have to sign to say that i won't claim against the RAF or the company for any damages etc, and that I have to sort out my own goods in transit insurance.
They don't provide a list of any companies though.
Has anyone done this before and who did you get insured with?
Can the insurance money be claimed back or should it come out of Disturbance Allowance?
Cheers!

Nice introduction but anyway, to answer your question most house contents insurance policies will cover your furniture during transit so I'd check your policy (assuming you are insured) as the first step. If it doesn't then your disturbance allowance should be used to meet the expense of getting cover for the move.

I concur with scribbily inform your contents insurance provider with details of the move, as long as it is with a proper removal firm you should be covered. If you have contents damaged you have to claim of contents insurance and they will recover monies from removal firm. Hope that helps?

Tis true. In one move the removals firm damaged the fridge. You tell them straight away, they give you a form to fill in.

You claim off your insurance company and they claim it back off the removals. Bit long winded but it works.

Thanks for that, I'll get in touch with my insurance to find out. I never even thought about my contents insurance covering my goods in transit, cheers!
