New to this forum, served 1980-1997 as Admin Clk/P and A Clk/Pers Admin. Left under Options for Change and returned to The Goose with my Canadian wife in 97. Currently working for Serco on The Canadian Forces Base with a number of other ex RAF lads.

Served at Boulmer, Saxa Vord (2 tours), West Drayton, Rheindahlen, Swanton Morley, St. Mawgan, Goose Bay (2 tours) and Brize Norton (216 Sqn). I also did 8 courses at Hereford and 2 at Halton (as a civvie). Also did Eng Wg HQ at RAF Stanley in the Summer (or should that be Winter?) of 85.

Hope to find some old friends and share some hazey memories!

Knarfw,

Welcome to the Goat. Good to see that the ex-pat community is still going there.

My tour there was the best one I ever had. That place was the best kept secret in the RAF. The only thing I don't miss from it is the blackfly!

Unfortunately I was the one who pulled the ensign down for the last time in Mar 2005. Enjoy the forums.

Welcome to the Goat

Welcome to the Goat

Two tours of Saxa. When? as our paths might have crossed.

And once more, welcome to the Goat.

Welcome mate. Is the Sandbar still open? Best pub in Goose!

I may be tarring everyone with the same brush but as a Sqn guy visiting every year it always felt like we were interfering in your 3 year holiday when we rocked up for the flying season. I always found every permy very hostile and unhelpful.

And that was even after I used my 'treat everyone the way you would expect them to treat you' rule.

Hence why on several occasions folk nearly got the claw rammed up their hoops.

The Sand Bar burned down 2 years ago but has since been rebuilt and re-opened, you won't recognise it now. On a side note Pizza Delight burned down last week and is owned by the same guy who just happens to be ex-RAF.

I'm guessing that you married a local lady that just happened to live straight across the road from me?

I also married a Goose girl after my tour there in 95-96 (worked the registry) - many happy memories (plus quite a few Dog-induced memory holes, especially after my birthday chalice when I ended up with stiches in my head and found someone sleeping in my doorway)

Could well be Knarfw. I've sent a PM to you.

Don't want to teach granny etc, but as you are new to the Goat look at the link on the top right under Welcome Knarfw to access.
