Salutations to all you folks on e-goat.
I am Craig, otherwise known as pepper0ni or just pepper.
I have joined your community as I wanted to gain an insight to the recruitment process of the RAF as I am going through it myself - I am applying to become a Techy Electrical. So far I have survived AST and the Interview and I am currently going through medical (Running around at the mercy of CAPITA like a few others) and am Eagerly awaiting my Pre Joining Fitness Test.

Hope to enjoy your community.

Hi Pepper, Ive also survived the AST and Im due my interview and medical soon, just wondering what questions they asked you at the interview and what to expect for the medical etc.
Regards

Interview: They mainly ask you about yourself and what you are doing in life at the moment. For example I just left high school so they asked me things like schools I attended and what subjects I took and my involvements in extra curricular activities (Things like sports you do or what you do in your spare time)... That's the first part of the interview, your second part is testing your knowledge on what you already know about the Airforce - you should have been told those things at the presentation after your AST's; this includes the Ethos of the Airforce, RISE (Respect Integrity Service and Excellence), currunt ops, know your airbases and whats stationed where. Depending on your trade you apply for the questions may be a bit different cause they asked me things about my specific trade and where do I go and for how long. They ask you about the time you spend at RAF Halton and how long you are a reservist after your initial signed contract. They also asked me about NATO and what it stands for (North Atlantic Treaty Organization with 28 countries currently). Also note that I was asked "You realize you are a soldier and that is the most important thing, what are your thoughts and feelings of the possibility of shooting to kill another human being who may be threatening you or your squads life?" - This is probably the hardest question in my opinion because you may not be asked that specifically but they ask you why you want to join and why you want to do the specific role you chose and test your understanding of what you are getting into.

The medical is fairly simple, the doctor took my weight and height to measure my BMI, asked me all the general Have you suffered from questions and simple eye checks and ear checks (Apparently they are really strict about earwax so go to your GP and check to make sure they can see your eardrums fine and treat it accordingly if not), then you'll have a hearing test. I also had to blow into this tube thing and do 5 press ups. Heart and blood pressure are also taken and so is a Urine sample...

Good Luck!
