Does anyone know if i can claim GYH(T) to my family home(next of Kin address) from Scottish Outer Isles? I am a singlee living in Surplus SFA at my current unit and able to travel to the family home during leave and periods of stand down. Does this make any difference?I currently get 4 warrants per year for ferries/flights(same as married folk here), however, the GYH(T) seems like a better option if i'm entitled to it.Thanks in advance.Mac.

Thanks,I used to get both when i lived in SLA, however, when i moved out into Surplus MQs i was told i would be switched over to the same allowances as the married guys. (4 Over The Water warrants). Didn't want to bother the HR guys at Boulmer until i was sure about what i could or couldn't claim.

Meh - cracking up in my old age!

Looking at the JSP 752 para 05.0205 d(2) it seems you should be getting 8 Over The Water warrants/flights - speak to your HR Flight for more info on sorting.

Spoke to HR. They seem to think i'm only entitled to 4 respite warrants per year as i don't live in SLA! They are going to look into it for me! The JSP 752 doesn't really say anything about people in my situation....singlees living out apparently don't exist! Fingers crossed cause the GYH(T) is a much better deal! :)

I believe you only get GYH if you have ownership of a property. You haven't made that clear in your original post although you refer to your 'family home'.

Your right, ownership being a privately maintained property. JSP 752 also says you can claim it to 'the family home'.

For Family home read Married. If it is your parents home then you will not be entitled to GYH rates otherwise all singlies would be able to claim it.

You don't have to be married but you DO have to be the owner/co-owner of the property and paying half the mortgage, council tax, bills etc. and the house can't be rented out.

A recent amendment to JSP 752 allows singlies in the Outer Isles to use their parents/NOK address as the family home with regards to GYH(T)
