Hello all,

I'm Tom and new to this site, I'm trying to gain as much info as i can about MERT and RauxAF 4626sqd which i hope to join.

My background.
I'm a HPC Paramedic working for a NHS Ambulance service on the south coast and myself and a colleague are looking into joining (if they will have us) 4626, ultimately we both would like to work on the MERT as we both feel that would be they best place to utilise our skills.

We have both been in touch with RAF Lyneham and have been invited to an open day on the 5th October, if there is anyone on here who can give me some info about any of the above it would be very much appreciated.

Cheers
Tom

4626 may not be the place for you to be honest since they are set up an auxilary aeromed squadron. They provide peacetime assistance to the RAF Aeromed Squadron based at RAF Lyneham and in war operate the aeromed role at Forward Air bases repatriating the injured back to the UK. As far as I'm aware they don't provide paramedics on either the MERT or IRT teams operating in Afghanistan since these are primarily RAF Paramedics or ITU/ AE nurses. I could be wrong but I've contacted some of my friends down at Lyneham aeromed to clarify. I'll let you know! The open day should certainly give you a better idea of what 4626 actually do.

OK thanks for that, i will await your reply, if that is the case though have i hit a brick wall?
