Just a little greeting to all on here. Have heard about it since its inception and thought now was a good time as any to sign up. Joined in '78 as an engine basher and left on the third tranche in '96. Wore my uniform with pride and never regretted one minute of those 18 years. Been in the civvy world of aviation since I left, gaining my CAA licences on resetlement (thank you anty Liz) and have been running my own aviation maintenance business since 2001, one of these being an EASA Part 145 approved organisation. The work is humdrum and civvy aircraft are lightweight compared to my time in the RAF, but the ever-increasing paperwork is in nightmare-ish proportions. Still it is a living. And the old adage of 'if flying was difficult, dangerous etc, techies would do it' is absolutely true as I am also a pilot with a multi-engine rating.
Sorry to bore you all. Look forward to staying in touch with the finest aviation professionals in the world, bar none.
