Hello from Heidelberg, Germany!

Just found this site when looking for information about regulations on wearing medals.
Seems I can wear my foreign medals under US Military Dress Code (Miniatures) so will need 2 sets now, one for the UK and one for US functions.

RAF 1973-1980 stationed at Swinderby (Recruit), Cosford (Trade Training), Marham, St. Mawgan, Salalah (Dhofar/Oman), Marham and Gütersloh (Germany).

Now a civilian employee with the US Army in Germany.

Tell me, how do I get the medal ribbons into my header like others seem to have done?

Chuckle!
Yes, they get medals for everything.
I put all my US, British official, and British commemorative medals together just to amuse and confuse them.

Hi just come back from CC Air Ramstein. A couple of regular goaters stationed there so watch out for conversations about having a tax free life etc and missing UK not. Are you on NATO or US Army side of place? Southern Germany really great apart from the US influence.

Welcome Crozier,

Gillo: Agree with your comments about Southern Germany. However, you were in Northern Germany compared to my home location. I live in Augsburg (full on Bayerisch Frau & Kind), well I would if I wasnt stuck in Lisbon with work for the moment. Not RAF, well not anymore, not since 95.

T93.

Don't know what you mean Gillo! Welcome Crozier, lovely place Heidelburg you may find some new Brit arrivals there before too long - brown jobs unfortunately!

I'm on the US Army side of life but classed as a "Local National" so have no tax-free perks. I'm actually working for HQ 5th Signal Command who are in Mannheim, some 20 miles up the road but started civvy life in Heidelberg in 1980 before promotion and transfer in 1992. We live in Leimen, 3 miles south of Heidelberg.

Yes, there are a few around here, part of the UK Element of JHQ in Patton Barracks. There is a BFPO there as far as I know.
