Hi there! As you've probably guessed by my forum username, my name is Tyler. I'm going to be as informative as possible when writing this thread, but as interesting at the same time. There's nothing worse than making a bad start, as first impressions are everything.

Basically, I'm an air cadet and have been for just over a year. Infact to be precise, I joined 1 year and 1 month ago. I'm planning on joining the Royal Air Force. I have just completed a week long work experience with the RAF at RAF Boulmer. It's really opened my eyes about the RAF regardless of what work I did and didn't do. I'm hoping to become a (fast-jet) pilot which obviously requires the best of the best. I've done quite a bit this past week ranging from ASAACS to a flight in a Seaking and also working with the Physical Education flight at Boulmer.

I've been a member of many different forums with different niches and I figured, "Why am I sitting on some ****ty gaming forum wasting my life, when I could be conversing on a forum like E-Goat?" So basically that's why I'm here.

I've noticed there are quite a few sections, so I'd like to keep up to track as much as possible. Judging by the number of new posts since this morning, I'll have no trouble though. The forum is looking rather inactive.

Kind Regards,
Tyler.

It's fairly inactive because it's a Friday and we're all at work, not sat at home watching C Beebies. Although, i'm obviously not that busy or I wouldn't be on here myself!

Welcome to the goat young man! By the way, make sure you are FULLY eligible to apply to become a Pilot in the RAF - i'm talking about health issues as well as qualifications etc. If you haven't already done so...... Please don't ask the ATC Sqn instructors any questions about joining the RAF as most of them haven't got a clue and get kids hopes up unnecessarily.

Thanks for the swift and warm welcome guys.

Welcome, and here's hoping you get what you want when you join.
Best of luck.

Thanks and well I can want and try, but theres no guarantee.

What are you implying? :PDT_Xtremez_15:

Thanks. So far, I'm fully eligible. I'm planning on completing my GCSEs at school next year, then I'll head to college and hopefully university. I've not asked any of the ATC members for advice. I know none of them have, are or will be in the RAF. Although, my CO is in the VRT. I'm going to keep on trying my best, at at worst still end up with a career in the RAF hopefully.

Thats because everyone else is sitting around on the gaming forums wasting their lives. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

Are you close to any RAF bases? I'd guess it would show good spirit (and might be nteresting/eye-opening for you) to spend a week on a flying squadron. You never know, you might even get a flight out of it if you do it through the ATC/Work Experience channels?

That we're not at home watching C Beebies.

By the way, taking your age into consideration when I say this - you really ought to read what you've written before you click 'submit'. Some of it is striking nerves.

Anyway, like I said earlier, welcome.

I live fairly close to RAF Leeming and also RAF Linton-on-ouse, which are both major bases in the involvement of the training of RAF fighter pilots. I'll see what I can do.

What do you mean?

Already spotted that but I've not had time to check it out. Thanks anyhow.

All the very best to you Tyler, There are a lot of "Goaters" who can give you sound advice to help you on your way. and no matter what your age is Im sure the RAF Careers Office can also give you some starters etc.

Best Of Luck

Thanks. So far my several-hour experience of the forum has been informative and interesting. I've actually personally spoken to some of the recruitment staff and they answered all my queries at the time.
