Excellent site, I've spent much of this afternoon reading through and I think it's great what's been done here, I'm surprised I didn't come across this a little sooner.

I'm 25, father of 2 special little girls and I'm looking to apply to the RAF.

I did look into joining when I left school but it wasn't possible because of a medical condition I suffered with when I was 16. I had a bout of something called 'Stills Disease' which is a form of Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. All those years ago it wasn't a great surprise that I wasn't accepted. Over the last 9-10 years though, I have lead a perfectly normal, fit and healthy lifestyle. The particular condition is known to go into remittance and as it's a Juvenile condition a person can grow out of it.

I'm considering making a new application to join the RAF as I've been clear for nearly 10 years now, I'm perfectly fit and healthy and I'd like to think I stand a much better chance this time. In the opinions of the people reading these forums, are my efforts pointless and would anyone like to agree with my thoughts that I stand a greater chance this time around?

I feel I have much to offer and it's incredibly frustrating not being able to follow my dreams because of something that I had as a child but doesn't affect me anymore.

Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ;)
