Found the forum completely by accident whilst browsing! Ex 23 year regular - started as Locking Brat, V-force as Radio Fitter, then aircrew on Shacks & Nimrods. Obviously now another old git!
Interested to see the T-shirt appeal for the lad at Headley Court. It so happens my wife is a Physio at Headley so I mentioned it to her.
For obvious boots-on-the-ground reasons the majority of patients are either brown jobs or Marines. They usually have Regimental or Corps t-shirts via their units - whereas it's not necessarily an Air Force "thing" to have Squadron or Station t-shirts - although with a bit of drive I'm sure it could be.
Headley originated as a predominantly RAF unit (when I met my wife it was still known as RAF Headley Court) it is now the DSMRU and the Defence Services predominantly are army - mainly for numerical reasons.
Whoever the patients are they get amazing treatment at Headley and the RTU rate is excellent. Let's all hope that the Afghan problem is resolved before too many more serious injuries & deaths occur - and that we don't get too caught up in Syria.
