Hello I am Heffernan.

I a, hopefully going to join the RAF, just sitting my GCSE's at the mo. I plan to do my written test next month and fingers crossed i pass! Hopefully ill still be in exam mode so ill do good. I have always wanted to join the military but sort of left it to the back of my mind, then my mate start talking about the RAF and it sounded good so i left it a while and started hearing the ad's on the radio about the need for Gunners and thought this cant be a concidence, so i took a trip down to my local AFCO got some information and have been doing my re search since (week tomorrow), and liking it more and more! I started my fitness program following a 6 week RAF plan that says i will be up to the RAF's fitness standards and im adding my own bits so hopefully i will be well prepared. At first I didnt want to do it but now i enjoy it, and its good fun when you get in the swing of things.

Welcome to the Goat BTW.
Have a good look around, together with your research and the information available at your local AFCO you will certainly find out quite a bit that will help you make a career choice.
Please don't be afraid to ask questions, but if the answer can be found after a few seconds of searching, you may get short shrift.
However, this is a virtual Crewroom of sorts, so get a cuppa and relax.

Top tips for you young Heffs:

1)Don't post your full name, persec is paramount.
2) See if your local college is running a Military Preparation Course, Google it, they have 3 hours of exercise a day to get people fit and do academics lessons as well, could be worth it, if I were you i'd do that for a year and then join up.
3) Failing that see if there is a British Military Fitness class near you, 60 mins of high tempo exercise a week and it's bloody good for getting you fit.

Ok, im following the RAF's 6week guide at the moment. I was a member of the gym but quit as it bored me,i find it alot easier to run out in the open than on a treadmill.
