Hello all,

Airborne107 here, I'm a Staff Cadet Sgt in the Air Trainig Corps. I come from Kent Wing, LASER (London & South East Region) ATC.
My ambition is to join the RAF as Aircrew in the near future.

I've signed up to E-Goat for answers to the many questions that await.
I am also in search for ex and current ATC Cadet NCOs that could perhaps share their knowledge, hints & tips with me so I could somehow incorporate them at my squadron.

My first question is... Has anyone got any good ideas for night exercises that I could use?

Hope to hear from you all soon :)

Welcome to the goat. And good luck with your application.

As for night ex ideas.... Navigation at night using map and compass are important should you find yourself still outside when night falls. A brief on how to find North at night... Polaris, moss on trees etc.... would be a good start.

Its a valid question for something he's interested in...

The nocturnal stuff you partake in whilst in training normally consists of Navex's...If you have had the bad luck to be shot down and survived the landing then in an ideal world it makes sense to lay up in the day and move at night under cover of darkness...So we do lots of map and compass work occasionally with a hunter force to make it more realistic...Not for cadets but if you add in a shortage of food and sleep and the prospect of some stress positions if you are caught it certainly makes it harder...

They are harder admin wise though with the extra safety fatcors you must build in for losing somebody etc....
