I found this site as it got recommended to an RAF pilot on a forum on a climbing site, so took a look myself, and then read a thread that I felt I could help with, so joined.
I am ex-RAF, pvr'd to pursue my longer term goal prior to it all changing and when it had hit rock bottom all most over 10 yrs ago, morale etc, time to leave I felt, plus other opportunties I wanted to pursue among other reasons I had at the time for wanting to leave the RAF. They didn't let me leave easily though, due to a job I got selected for too, and offered me promotion and asked me to stay in 3 times, but I stuck to my plan at that point to leave and become an RN, which was my long term goal. I did apply within the RAF but they selected those already in the medical field at that time so that was that. To be honest it worked out for the best, as it wasn't a degree course at that time in the RAF and I wanted the degree course.
I almost came back in as an RN officer, but Afghan I already decided I did not want to go there, and they said as an RN I most definately would be, so that was that. Torn between Canada and the RAF again at the time, I chose Canada, and don't regret I did. Did 4 yrs working and living there, but ready to return to the UK again, and won't rule out working as a reservist for the RAF again either in due course.
Anyway, just thought I'd say hello as introductions are encouraged on joining too, rightly so.
