Hello to eveyone. I signed about a month ago, but this has been the 1st chance I've really had to come on. My name is Jim and I served from 1979-85 as a motorboat crewman, mostly at Mountbatten, but with spells at Tenby and Holyhead. It was six fantastic years, which I enjoyed enormously, having some great times, and meeting some wonderful people. The site looks great, but still finding my way around it.
Best Wishes to you all.
Jim.

Good to see you Jim, and welcome.

Bloody hell, the Marine branch - that's going back a bit now! Even I can remember that...

Welcome to the Goat Jim, enjoy the hunour and ignore the twisted ones.

Seymour, I know what you mean, not only do I remember the Marine Branch but I have been on one of their Air-Sea Rescue boats on a training mission.

Is that what you were part of Jim?

Welcome Jim, I'm another who can remember when we had a Marine Branch.
There used to be a unit at Bridlington who exercised regularly with the SAR Flight at Leconfield, back in the days when we used Whirlwinds for SAR (that's the helicopter not the fighter built in the 1940's, I'm not that effin' old).
(Light up the tilley lamp, start it swinging and pull the sandbag closer).
I'm pretty sure I've been aboard one of the RAF's launches as well. I think it was HMAFL Lancaster, back in the mid 80's, but the "old-timers disease" plays tricks on the memory now and I'm probably just remembering an adventure from one of the old Commando comics I read as a kid.

Welcome to the goat !!!!

Welcome Jim...So you choose not to re-train at Halton?

There was a bunch of blokes going through re-training as sumpies when I was on my mechs course in 86...Good bunch of blokes...I used to get a lift to Plymouth with a few of them when I had romantic interests in that area....
