I'm looking for some career advice (this may be a dangerous one!) I have recently pvr'd through JPA (three weeks ago) I have not received any form of confirmation or acknowledgment of my application.
I have since found out that one of my long term dreams (joining Kings troop) has become possible while I wasn't looking! Four years ago when I decided to join the services and applied to join the air force I was told I could not join Kings Troop because I was female.
I was under the impression that this was still the case until this week.
Does anyone know where I would stand on withdrawing my PVR and transferring to the army (shock horror I know!) I am trade group 11/4, and I have served 3 years (please no naafi queue or leave time jokes!)
Any advice from anyone would be very very welcome. I also have plans to visit the AFCO this weekend.

Speak to your HR and Flt Cdr ASAP. You need to gen app to withdraw the PVR but your reasons for original PVR can be held against you!

My original reasons for pvr were disillusionment with the RAF and lack of career prospects, any chance that these would be almost discarded with an application to transfer attached to the gen app?! Or is that wishful thinking?

Talk to the AFCO first. It may be that you need to have PVR'd from the RAF before the Army can say yes.

If so, you can apply for ealy release

There is a tried and tested method of transferring between the services (it is usually army to RAF!) but basically you apply through an AFCO who will seek permission to accept an application from you whilst confirming that the RAF would be willing to release you should you be successfull with your application. If both parties agree then you go through the Army recruiting system as per normal. If you are successful you will be discharged from the RAF the day before you enlist into the Army.

The risk you run is that the RAF will not let you rescind your PVR - if this is indeed the case you may well find that you have to wait 12-24 months before the Army will let you start the ball rolling (assuming you haven't gone over their age limts in that time). If you do wish to start the transfer process, your PVR will need to come out. Best of luck.

PS

You will find that your reasons for wishing to leave the RAF will be made known to the AFCO so expect some tough questions on your "disillusionment".
