Quick question for all you in the know - can you wear the help for heores cummerbund and bow tie with your mess dress? Wearing for a wedding so not worried about being fined too much!

Simple answer is no. Anything other than a black bow tie (or white bow tie in officers' 5a) is a no-no. Formation cummerbunds should only be worn in the Mess and then only when external guests are not present.

That said, it would appear that dress regs are frequently ignored - in particular those relating to no5 dress. So just crack on.
 
Never heard of mess dress being worn outside of a mess. Is this normal? Or is the wedding in the mess?

That was my opinion - especially as we paid for it and its not part of the supplied uniform.

Reference mess dress in weddings, I've been to a fair few where an army lad has married and used mess dress as its a lot better looking that their number 1 equivilent!
