Looking for some quick advice for one of my lads soon to be remustered.

Can someone tell me what his PStatCat is? He is in a long term relationship, lives in his own house with partner and child.

When he moves (from one end of the country to the other), he will be leaving the family here - what would he be entitled to claim.

Also, would he be better off married and leaving the family here?

Thanks in advance

He is almost certainly PStat 5.

When he moves, assuming he will be living in SLA, he will pay food and accommodation and council tax at his new unit. As long as he can prove that he maintains a property elsewhere, he will get GYH, but if he does so, will not be able to claim a 25% discount on that private property.

If he was married, he would still receive the GYH and pay food charges, but would be exempt accommodation & CT payments. Depending on the grade of SLA, not being married will cost him an additional £30 to £60 per month.

Also don't forget he can claim Disturbance Allowance and removal costs (dependant on Living Accomm he will be moving to)

He would be moving into SLA at his new camp (for trade training) then probably SLA wherever he is posted after that.

I am guessing that the problem lies in him not being married, anyone any idea of how much of a difference that would make from a pure financial view. His GYH (P) mileage is 295 but I cannot find the rate anywhere (not at work at the moment).

With paying full living in costs the balance may be tipped in favour of marriage!

Yes. Between £30 and £60 per month, depending on what grade accom he is in. As I said above.

All other allowances are got no matter what your PStat if you maintain a private property elsewhere.

Thanks, just missread what you had written before. Please excuse me being a mong!
