Hey guys :) im new and this is my first post.
I have one burning question if anyone could possibly help me it would be great.
Im 16 and want to apply to the RAF and join as an aircraft technician (mechanical) but im unsure i will be able to, as i only achieved a grade 4 in a std grade/gsce in maths.
Im not sure if there's any give or take in the entry requirments as im sitting Intermediate 2 maths this year.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :):PDT_Xtremez_44:

This might sound like a stuck record dude, but speak to your local careers office, they will give you the up to date information and criteria for your chosen trade and also advise you on any appeal.

Any other RAF related questions just bellow!!!

I'd guess it'd be very, very unusual and a very special case for them to waive the education requirements unless you have an equivalent educational qualification in that subject at the relevant grade.

To be honest you're as well off calling the recruitment people and getting it from the horse's mouth. :PDT_Xtremez_26:

We always need good new folk that the rest of us can stuff a broom handle through the arms of his rompers and send him up on the hangar crane. :PDT_Xtremez_42:You don't always need wings to fly. :PDT_Xtremez_30:

indeed i dont :PDT_Xtremez_42: im sorry man, i love youuu! :)
Pfft, ive only ever wanted to join the RAF i cant see myself in any other job.
But errh, to the big boss administrator guy, I do try at school. i wish i could go back and sit it again :(
Can u forgive me :S lol. ?

Fear not dale, you will never be as much as a retard as our gay penguin sucks!

Keep your options open in case you cannot enter as an aircraft tech, remember you could always join up as a supplier and re-trade later on ::D:

nice line in sucking up:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Don't suck up to Gem, he's a dirty old ex bomb head, who knows no better than to groom young pups on here.................!!!!!!!!

But seriously, join as a Physical Training Instructor (PTI), you can be thicker than a plate full of weapons technicians (loosely used term) and still earn £25,000 per year, without any responsibility as they have a massive disclaimer already written for them! LOL

And get this, you get to climb, ski, sunbathe & teach techies how to suck eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After all the above, apart from being a pilot, Aircraft Technician is THE only trade to be, despite all you read on here! There are many trades getting the same pay as us but, & this is a big BUT. They all wanna be techies really!

Pin out, cook & wait for the slagging!!!!!!1

lol, fair enough :)
I take all ur points on board :D
I think im gonna go pop into my AFCO on sunday and ask in there to see if a pass in int.2 maths will be an equivalent qualifaction to std.grade maths, after all it is a better qualification, but rules are rules after all :(

I have no idea what an int.2 in maths is. :PDT_Xtremez_41: I'm from the age of CSE's and O levels. :PDT_Xtremez_14: Rather than speculate, just wait until you've had a chat with the AFCO staff - they should be able to give you the definitive yes or no. :PDT_Xtremez_15: At least then you won't look a complete tit by saying to them that someone on e-Goat - an unofficial website - said it was fine. :PDT_Xtremez_28:
