I've been told i've been put on a HGV course which i'm delighted at but i canny get my course details till after Feb and just wondering if anyone has done it yet. Just wondering how long it is, what it involves etc etc

It depends what Cat you are doing but it can be up to 6 weeks of getting treated like a mong and signing on and off camp.

all i know is it's C+E

That's the old Class1, artics.

I did mine in civvy, on a 2 week course with the test at the end of it.
Good luck. It's fun.

Edit.............
TT, I've just checked your profile, and if your age is correct on there, you're too young to drive HGV1.

Edit2...........

Just double checked. 21 in civvy st, 18 in armed forces.
Many apologies, mate.

And perhaps a little wet for resettlement :PDT_Xtremez_14::PDT_Xtremez_14::PDT_Xtremez_14:

Anyway, I am pretty sure C+E is the 6 week course maybe 4 if you are not doing ADR, no doubt there will be a door slammer around shortly to confirm.

In the meantime how about you have a read here , it might just give you a taste of the reason I will never be doing HGV at Leconfield. :PDT_Xtremez_32:

If you are a Junior Rank then you'll want to get it over as quick as possible.

If you can get your theory sorted before you get there you'll save yourself a week, your MT Trg should be able to sort this out for you, if you're nearby the TA in Grantham they can do the tests.

Other than that it's free flow the quicker you are passing the test the less time you spend there, highly recommended. At the end of it you'll spend a week doing loading and lashing, nice, when all you want to do is get away.

They don't normally let you do C then C+E back to back if you are RAF, but this might have changed. This Gen is once removed as a colleague of mine went there, I managed to get mine locally provided through a civi contract at Honington, nicer way of doing it.

Good luck, it's a nice ticket to have in the book for when you leave the mob, although trying to do weekend work for a bit of extra dosh has become really hard due to a load of EU, handed out, rules and regs that just keep coming.

If it is just your C+E as you already have C then it is a week long course, been there and done that. The camp is a sh1thole of a place and the army try and treat you like a piece of sh1t if you are a cpl then less hassle for you otherwise they will do their best to treat you like poo:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Did both C and C+E in the mid 90's, but no doubt very little has changed with the mentality of the power crazed jumped up shoites who the Army send there to run the place. On both my visits I had run ins with the pongos luckily being a SNEC at the time I had a bit more guts than they bargained for. Make sure you take a padlock as 1 on my lads on the course forgot his and had his cheque book taken by the orderly Officer and his laccy during an inspection in front of his room mate. Then they tried to give him extra duties but failed as I said no charge no duties, luckily the guys at 22 Sqn had a word with the Offier as I threatend them with the cops for theft.

I was told that the reason you sign out esp at the end of the month is to inform the local police what numbers of trainees will be out so they can set a ratio, sounds logical.

I was shocked to find that I had to do a march in to my room in the Mess, 2 curtains, 1 chair, 1 bed etc etc. I bet little has changed just the arses who run the place
