Just started on the forum.

I joined up in 1978 and spent six years as a Flight Line Mech on Hawks at Brawdy and Chivenor.
After leaving in 1984 I got bored and joined the TA in Haverfordwest, and then switched to the ACF where I was a sergeant instructor.

Work wise I did various driving jobs, was a liney on Chipmunks and Bulldogs at Abingdon for Field Aircraft about 1989. and did a further couple of years as a Hawk liney/airframes bod at Valley from 97 to 99, slaving for the notorious
BRAMA.

I have spent the last ten years caring for my disabled wife.

Regards.
Doug Smith.

Cardiff.

Thanks for the replies.
I had never worked on prop kites before, so the Chipmunks were especially wierd.
During my first week I managed to put a foot through the material on the trailing edge of one while getting into the cockpit. I then had a lesson in repairing fabric from an old ex rigger chief who had started out on Lancasters.
