I am currently going through the application process to join the RAF in the role of ICT Tech, any advise and help is very very welcome.

Due to sit my AST (second attempt) very soon after my first was 1 Mark off the required for EC.

Welcome to the Goat - my only advice is to learn the difference between banter, an insult and outright verbal abuse...

As for the job, I think that particular trade has some large manning shortfalls at the moment (lots of gapped posts) so a good time to join up!

Thanks, having grown up with two older brothers and their friends and playing a lot of rugby my sense of humour is quite good.....I think. I'm also 28 so not your average aged recruit.

brilliant thanks, I have a software help desk background so hope I can build on that really. I'm pretty sure that's why they are offering the Golden Handshake (no complaints here).

I'm applying in December, I was planning on signing up for RAF Reg but a bit like you I'm an IT Engineer mainly working on servers though.

I hope you're planning on staying active here id like to see your progression!

Thank you, interview next week, will post how I get on!

I'll be active throughout mate so any questions just ask. But like downsizer said why wait? Best thing someone said to me (on another forum) was why wait? What's stopping you? If your already in IT why change? What makes you want to be a gunner over ICT Tech?

Nerves are running high ahead of the interview, cramming as much knowledge in as I can before it. Think I'm ready just need to keep confident and be positive, I know I can do it but doesn't stop the nerves.
