Hi I am currently geting ready to join the RAF and have got a girlfriend with a four year old daughter. I am wondering if anyone can let me know if there are living quarters made available for my girlfriend near whichever base I will be posted at? Thankyou to anyone who answers.

Simple reply firstly is NO unmarried co habitation is not allowed in AMQ
However put your case forward and if there are enough qtrs available you may get one.
Best thing to do if you want a quarter is get married saves all the hassle of getting turned down.
On the unmarried front is the daughter yours? if not it will lessen your case as legally you have no requirement to support her and the airforce even less to provide her with accomodation.
Harsh but true there are problems getting quarters in some areas even for married personnel.
All you can do is apply.

From my experiences of quarter allocation I wouldn't even offer you the glimmer of hope that MB does above...Although there has been movement in this field over the past few years with regards to gay couples being allowed housing in your case unless you put a ring on her finger you will not get a quarter.

I take it from the fact you did not say "I have a 4 year old Daughter with my Girlfriend" that the kid isn't yours. You have no legal responsibility towards this child and therefore you have zero elligibility to a married quarter. Not to mention that you're not even married.

Even married couples have trouble getting decent quarters these days, I wouldn't hold any hope on the subject unless the question is popped.

You're only slight glimmer of a chance is to arrive at your unit then apply for a surplus quarter.

However, there almost certainly won't be one available and even if there is and someone comes along who is entitled, you will be booted out to make way.

Your best bet is to rent privately in the local area if you want to stay together.

It may sound harsh but it is excactly what a mate of mine has had to do and he even had the station commander on his side. The thing is that the housing people are no longer on the units and are civillian run, they follow the rules as written down.

With a ginger person? Ill bet he feels good about it, he might be able to get the smell of fox **** and digestive biscuits off his clothes! :PDT_Xtremez_14:

But the same as everyone else, unless you are the sole provider/guardian for a child (and thats single parent btw) then you will not be entitled to a quarter at all, unless you are married. Sorry buddy, those are the dice as rolled.
