Hi.
I'd better say hello before I get thrown out without a chute! In a way, I was in all three services! I left school in 1944 and started work as a spotlight operator in a live theatre, it only lasted three weeks and it was bombed. I then worked as a Naval Messenger on the Grimsby naval base HMS Beaver, bell bottoms, a flat hat and a funny salute. When the base closed down, I started work in the piano trade, french polishing and piano repairs. Then came NS, no RAF places so ended up in Royal Artillery Ack ack. 46(m) HAA at Bulford. Three months after demob I was in the RAF! Square bashing at Bridgnorth and trade training at RAF Melksham. Posted to RAF Binbrook and ended up on 617 Squadron working on Avro Lincolns and then we got the Canberra which we took to Malaya in 1955. On return 617 sqdn were disbanded to form a Vulcan squadron and I spent the rest of my service on ASF. After demob, I started work for a firm in Lincolnshire ( Yes I'm a yellowbelly) producing oven ready duckling and became electrical supervisor. I also was with Air Cadets for 27 years as a Warrant Officer, I received the Cadet Forces Long srevice Medal and clasp and the Commandants Commendation. I also put some time in at gthe local aviation muiseum refurbishing cockpits. I also help my wife breeding miniature poodles. We both love animals and have six dogs, four cats and four tropical birds.
