Im the proud owner of a very tired Audi A$ im tryin to get to the moon. only 80,000 miles or so to go.

But i've just failed MOT. Cnuts. High carbon monoxide they say. Plugged it in to computery thingy and it says "coolant temp sensor signal implausable".

Its a bit of a leap for me to attach emissions and engine cooling but hey im a fairy. Is there anyone out there who knows better?? should i change this sensor or clean it or look down another avenue??

either way i'm seeking advice before ripping 3 wires out of it (c-shift fairy's versus sumpies private, so called, "joke").

looking forward to your replies.............

I too am the owner of a tired 25 year old BMW. Last year the aforementioned vehicle failed it's MOT with emissions registering above 6.5%. On the advice of the tester I contacted a 'mobile tuner' and paid the princely sum of £58 for his services. Not only did he reduce the emissions to less than 2% but my economy went up by so much that I worked out that with just four refuels from empty - full his services had cost me nowt. Worth a try I reckon!

also sounds like a plan. must admit economy is a little worse than when i bought it. not quite like your JD swilling beast I'd guess though.

Obviously you know me/my vehicle, pop down to 'Bargain Bucket Airways' and i'll give you the number of the tuner! Or if you wish to remain anonymous PM me!

in work fri, I'll meet ya for breaky J2 smoking area........... I'll where a red rose..................the password is " red fox, is shrew better than squirel in the spring?" answer "yes, but only lightly toasted, old bean"

dude stop your moaning, if you lot had pulled the DSDTS out you'd have broken the wires too ::P:

any luck with the car?

Working in the industry - you will need to replace the sensor but check the wiring first for a OC or SC this is because the engine control unit is looking for a valid response from the sensor in order to apply it to a software map to calculate how the car is running. If it is missing a sensor it will default to a known map and run the car in a default mode creating the higher emission levels and log the diagnostic trouble code. If you can get access to a scan tool after cleaning the sensor it should display the DTC if cleaning it didn't work. More likely to be cracked wire \ sensor either way ripping it off will not get past the MOT:PDT_Xtremez_30:
