Just a quick question to all those who have taken their other half on HOLIDAY to Vegas (not a Det, done it), but a break for you and Mrs/Mr.

Did you a: book it all through a travel agent
b: book just your flights and wing hotel on arrival
c: book it all over the internet

And what was the outcome?

What are the best parts when taking your partner? (Not Little Darlings:PDT_Xtremez_42:, Club RA workers night:PDT_Xtremez_42:, but normal couple things).:PDT_Xtremez_30:

Thanks for any Gen.

Get on the Virgin from Gatwick, book your hotels through priceline.com specifying 5 star deluxe and offering $80 a night - you may get a venitian suite midweek.

Loads to see and do - All Cirque du Soleil 1/2 price with 1250

Webbo,

Done it all over the net, I booked flights first then searched hotels secondly, if youre going try to get in vegas sunday and leave thursday maybe stopping off coming back for 2-3 days if you have to stay a saturday to get cheap flight. Set a budget and see whats best in your range - if a convention in the hotel u want, prices soar, consider some of the older places on the strip as they can be 1/4 of MGM, New |York,Venetian etc.

Was quoted £277 for 7 nights at The Flamingo, thought that was rather good.

Did it all over the internet, £1250 each for crimbo and new year in the bellagio for 9 nights.
A helicopter flight over the hoover dam and grand canyon is a must, champagne lunch and river trip is a little extra but totally worth it.
I thought the cirque de sole was a complete pile of ar*e. If it hadnt cost so much i would have walked out.
Bellagio jasmin chinese restaurant has stunning views of the fountains whilst eating but hard to get a booking, worth it if you get one by the window mind.
Go up the stratosphere both night and day, and if you are brave(mental) do the rides at the top.
Tour all the hotels, the wynn is stunning and has a fantastic restaurant thats definately worth booking if you can get in.
If you and the Mrs are up for a party, do the coyote ugly bar in new york new york, dont bother if your mrs is a prude.
Have had a fantastic time each time i have been to vegas, just ignore the mexicans trying to hand you cards for prozzies along the strip.
Enjoy.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Me and Mr Crabbity went to Vegas on our first holiday together and loved it so much we went back for part of our honeymoon. Both times we booked on expedia so booked hotel, flights and shows/tours all at the same time. Not sure if that was cheaper or not (hubby dealt with all the budgeting stuff) but it was definately easy to organise and meant you knew in advance how long you would be doing stuff and how long you would have to explore.

If I were to go again I would spend less on a hotel to free up more cash for spending and/or flight upgrade (hubby is over 6 foot so flights are always uncomfortably for him and 12 hours is a long time to be cramped up in cattle class) as the first time we underestimated how much we would need for spending and ended up budgeting our last few days, thankfully, the second time we came back with change but not quite enough to upgrade our seats.

Like others have said, hoover dam and grand canyon are a must if you can afford them. If you've been on det then you probably know all about doin every casino on the strip but there's loads to see and do on the strip that doesn't involve gettin bevvied 24/7 or losing loads of money.

My biggest dissapointment was draggin my hubby to see The Beatles LOVE Show by Cirque du Soleil and although there was some cool dancing and a good soundtrack, I have no idea what the hell was going on!! Loads of yanks kept laughing raucously or clapping every now and then and I'm sure they were only doing it so it looked like they knew what was hapenning!

If like a lot of young, red blooded females out there your wife is into glossy mags/celebrity gossip etc I would suggest booking a meal at a well know celeb hang out (or night out in celeb clubs). There's plenty to choose from in Vegas. We went to the Voodoo Lounge and although there was no celebs there that night it was exciting (for me, he wasn't arsed) to be dining in celebville!

Hope you have an awesome time!! :PDT_Xtremez_30:

PS Use the monorail, its conveniant and free but I think totally underated.

After reading the thread that Sospan pointed out it reminded me that the monorail is not free, sorry, didn't mean to lie to you but I honestly have no recollection of actually paying for a ticket. Must've been hungover when I used it :PDT_Xtremez_42:

It's still conveniant and underated though :PDT_Xtremez_30:

I used to travel alot in my old Job and expedia, travelocity etc are all good.

I have found that about three weeks before the flight goes the prices start to climb so that's really the cut off date if you're going to organise something.

I would only do Vegas for a few days and then move on somewhere else.
