Recently returning from Exercise (a real one!!) I had the joys of field living dashed after opening up my e-mail and discovering loads of guff ref our favourite system. At the same time a locally produced "How the heck" document is doing the rounds. Now it's all nice and gucci to have a civillised way of bitching about how to do something or is there a better way in how we can use it.

So here I am. At the minute I am finding it increasing difficult both personally and professionally having to say to my "customers"??? that I don't know the answers when they come in ranting and raving about JPA & JPAC.

This is where all you shiny e-goaters come in. If you have any tips, tricks and how to's that you have managed to disover can you promulagate them here. Additionally if there if there is a question that you want answering stick it down and pray that someone somewhere knows the answer. That way we might just start having a chance to show that we do actually know whats happening.

The futures bright the future is HR !! :raf:

Know how you feel. I am having the same problem at the moment. Found out a couple of tricks and putting them down here so other shineys can use them.

Any probs with pay prior to 1 Apr 06 is to be dealt with as if JPA was not here. There are being called 'legacy' queries! So fill out the forms iaw AP3392 and send in as manual inputs to Ivory Towers.

Any query that means you have to use the 'torch' symbol can be sorted by using text and followed by %. % is the wild card that will pick up any text that includes your search text!

Use your unit HR first or at least ask them who you need to contact. This saves hours of frustration while you are trying to figure out WTF is going on with your pay.

The Employee preferences are for all to use including our 'lobotomised' comrades! :PDT_Xtremez_30: No longer does the system differentiate between pond-scum, Chelsea pensioners and Rodneys! :PDT_Xtremez_15: Only difference is that Chelsea and pond scum need to get theirs filled out before 30 Jun 06 or else they are at the mercy of the drafter! :PDT_Xtremez_03: Use the free-flow text fields to amplify on your choices or else you could end up in Liney HQ when you wanted to be on the Line!

PH should be on your ILA as authorised absences or as extra days. JPA should take that off before it takes off your annual. Re-engagement should have been put on by your HR point, but they might have gotten side-tracked with all the Admin BS being thrown their way!

Specialist Pays such as Flying pay, PJI pay, etc that are recurring competency based pays (Thank God that Clerks aren't paid extra or most of us would be owing money! :PDT_Xtremez_30: ) are done through your Unit Career Manager who will send an input up to Ivory Towers and it should get your money put into your pay.

These points have taken me two months to find out and I don't work in Heartbreak House (thankfully!) so if you need any other bits and bobs found out then I will try and find them!
