my name is chris, i'm 22, and i'm currently applying to be a WSOp in our lovely RAF.

I've done everything at the moment, preliminary aptitude tests, p2 presentation and filter interview, i'm awaiting a date for cranwell OASC. It's not been easy though, 6 weeks ago my appendix had to be removed and it's set back the OASC date by 3 months at least, but i'm still in the pipeline, which is a bonus.

I went on a station visit to RAF odiham today and it's left me inspired, and fully focused me on wanting to specialise as a Rotary Crewman, my preference would be Crewman anyway, but now rotary is what i want.

My fitness is good at the moment, all things considered, 8.5 minutes for 1.5 miles, and the sit-ups and press-ups are getting there, did have open surgery after all.

Signing up to as many forums as possible to broaden my knowledge for OASC

anyway that's enough about me
Chris

Welcome to the Goat Chris. It sounds like you are doing all the right things to make OASC as easy as you can for yourself and you actually know where you want to be. Good luck I wish you well and happy posting on the goat.

Hello Chris,

Welcome to the Goat. Sounds like you're doing some good things OASC-wise at the moment. I know you've had a setback, but keep at it and don't give up.

With regards to WSOp visits, don't just focus on becoming a Cmn (RW). You will join as a generic WSOp and be streamed during the generic phase. You may not necessarily be pushed down the route you want to go. And at OASC, if you've focused purely on Cmn (RW) they may ask you about the Aco or EW roles to see if you've researched the branch as a whole. My advice to you,as a recruiter, is to get in touch with stations like Lyneham and Waddington, or even Kinloss and aask to spend a bit of time with the WSOps there as they will do different roles from the one you wish to do and it may open your eyes to other opportunities in the branch. PM Vim Fuego who may be able to shed some light for you.

Good luck.

Quite right...Although its not my area we do get regular visits from OASC hopefuls...there is a package for the day that leads them nicely around the ISTAR world that is Waddo...Contact your AFCO for details...If they don't know then come back here and in a couple of weeks when I'm back in work I'll do some digging for you.

cheers guys, i suppose the waddington visit would be very helpful, am i right with there being a "dreamsheet" you can fill out if you're successful?

anyway i think everything is laying on where the government budget axe falls :(:S
