Ive recently PVR'd but im wanting to carry on working in the civil aviation indusrty as a fairy.
Ive scoured the net for jobs and it appears there are lots of jobs for UN-LICENSED engineers. Great but as all the essentials that are required for the post, one of almost all of them is a human factors certificate.

Does anyone know what courses to do to obtain such a thing? Are we already considerd as qualifying??
If anyone could shed some light for me id be very greatfull.

Thanks in advance.

Have a look HERE

Look for Human Factors under the course search facility.

Unless you have done a HF course in the RAF that is approved by the authorities you will not already qualify.

Initial courses are usually two days in length followed by a one day refresher every 2 years. A current HF certificate is mandatory for any folk involved in civil aircraft maintenance.

Cost is usually in the region of £100 plus VAT per day. If you are employed by an Airline/MRO they will foot the bill, otherwise it will come out of your own pocket.

Hope this helps.

HF Certificates are not mandated for Non-Certifying Engineers and, as a contract fitter, you may be without one for up to 6 months before the company needs to see one. Depends on company requirements.

However; many companies do have statements in their MOEs that they will not accept contract personnel without one! This is to remove the company's need to give HF courses to contractors.

Once you are working in a company and your HF becomes due renewal - many companies will put you on a refresher course to keep you current whilst in their employ. One paid day off is better than looking for another Connie! (especially a good one!)
