Hyperlink snag

Help,

for some reason I'm no longer allowed to directly access hyperlinks in my outlook emails. When I try it says that I don't have the required administrator permissions - however, there is only 1 account on my machine and I am the administrator. Guest account is turned off.

I can usually copy the link to a new web page but this isn't always the case. Accessing hyperlinks from other web pages is fine.

Outlook 2007, Win7 and IE are on the machine.

Appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Have not installed Chrome and the latest IE is the default browser. However, the problem was there before I recently upgraded to IE9.

I've got Safari installed to use on the ipod but don't access it on the machine.

Check that "URL" is set to open using internet explorer - I've seen this when the staff where I work discovered they could bypass the "no -install" rule by downloading Chrome - which then screwed up their email like youa re describing

If you have another browser installed on your machine, set it as the default then start Outlook. Close Outlook, reinstate IE as the default and then start Outlook again.

That links a good place to start - or - open my computer - then "tools" - "Folder Options" then the "file types" tab - scroll down till you find the URL extension and make sure that it shows Opens with: Internet explorer. This probably will show that if the Registry key is corrupt...

Update

Thanks to Barch, that link you offered was my problem so my registry was corrupt as per Shettie's idea.

In the meantime, I followed Metimmee's advice in installing/uninstalling Chrome and IE9 and it seems to have done the trick.

Once again, thanks to all 3 of you.

I'm now a happy Belle......

He'll be fast asleep by now - with the Daily Star spread across his chest and a little line of dribble coming out the side of his mouth! :)
