Switch to Firefox as well, get rid of IE!

Do you have any anti virus or a firewall program running, they sometimes can block your homepage from being changed

There are a few reasons for this. The first is that you have selected your home page with a link rather than within your software. Most people who do this within their browser settings can have fewer problems. We would know more about your problem if we knew what browser you were using, whether you are using MSN software, etc. The MSN software, for example, may have a hidden setting that "hijacks" your homepage.
In Firefox (or Mozilla or Netscape), go to your desired homepage and select Tools --> Options --> General. Then select "use current page."
In IE, it is very similar. Go to your desired homepage, select Tools --> Internet Options --> General. Select "use current page."
If this does not solve your problem, then what you might have is a more complicated issue that involves spyware or the MSN software itself. Many spyware programs have scripts that hijack your homepage to something that they want. The puzzling thing is that you don't generally see a piece of software hijacking to the MSN site. That's why it may be an MSN setting. When possible, I set up my internet connections to work independent of the branded software; in most cases, the branded software is full of bloated settings that can do things like take your homepage. I am not familiar enough with the MSN software to say. If you are on a dialup connection, you could simply look up your phone number and create a dialup connection that works by itself. You can do this by going into your control panel, selecting network connections, and selecting "create a new connection." There is a wizard that will walk you through this process.

Right then, there is your problem.
Go into the Norton protection centre, look at web browsing and there might be something in there.

Fomz, slightly off topic why don't you just bin Norton anyway its crap - try Avira, Avast and Panda Antivirus - they are just as good and free to download.

1) Inability to set virus scan to manual (apparently this hasn't been corrected even in the latest release)
2) An unethical "subscription" service with updates coming out with alarming regularity (strangely sometimes within a few hours of a "virus" coming out...)
3) Difficult and costly access to technical support, difficult to get responses to technical queries via e-mail.
4) If live update is in manual mode the user is not notified that updates are available.
5) The whole system runs slower with Norton than any other AV software i've ever used.
6) Norton sometimes quarantines essential system files without notifying the user (the only clues are the catastrophic system crash..)
7) Being as its probably the most widely used AV software (fcuk knows why) there are types of malware out there that specifically target and disable Norton software.
8) Certain conditions can mean you are unable to remove Norton - you have to download another piece of software from the Norton website to uninstall the software under certain conditions...
9) It costs money and there are better, free alternatives out there.
NB: Not all Symantec software is poo, Ghost was an excellent piece of software..
Just do a quick Google to see what the world thinks of Norton Anti virus

Agreed, it's widely known amongst us Geeks that most Open Source or free software is better than proprietary software (Firefox, thunderbird, Avira, avast and Openoffice just to name a few)

Not just a pain in the arris mate. To fully get rid of Norton you have to wipe your windows installation!

Whoa there dude! Just use the Norton removal tool from symantec.com then REGEDIT, find and remove all references to Norton. I have done this a couple of times on systems of mine and have had no problem.
BTW I use Norton because my ISP (BTinterweb) provides it free for me. I have never had a problem with it (although I do know people that have) and it has never stopped me doing anything I want to. The big problem is people not following instructions. If you are installing new software ALWAYS disable your AV before you start. This way files do not get quarantined unnecessarily.

Spybot's Teatimer needs to be turned off if you use it too, unless you want to tick the box every two seconds.
I did have AVG try to block an installation many moons ago.
FOMz. Did you try changing the address through internet properties, or while explorer is active ? Apologies if it's a daft question, but it can make a difference
Explorer can be set to block start up address changes while it's active to stop websites changing it for you.

IIRC Lavasofts AdAware also blocks the changing of the homepage. It can override anything set in IE's settings
