I've thought about this for a while and suffered a gentle chiding for posting without making an introduction in that time. So here goes and if I am in the wrong bar, I'll quietly climb out the cyberspace eqivalent of the toilet window. (This is meant deferentially, not in any way snootily).

Joined when Jim Callaghan was PM,
1979 Cranwell
1980 Aberporth
1981-1983 BFG (Ramstein and Bruggen)
1984 and a bit of 85 Catterick
1985 to very early 87 Lyneham
so 6+2
after that joined a computer company, left after a year, travelled, went back to uni, met now wife, joined an airport company, started a family and then made a strategic move (geographically and quality of life with kids) to academia.

Do I miss it? Well, the Mally forum shows that it's a way of life that's pretty well gone and a bit silly to hanker after something that you enjoyed but has moved on. Would I go back? I applied to rejoin (temporarily) during the autumn of 1990 (I was writing up my research and the airport company (temporarily) reneged on a job offer) but as my reserve commitment ran out earlier that year it was too difficult for Barnwood who said that they'd lost my file, anyway. What did I do? Work it out from the cover name.

Streuth, new boy nerves have made me gabble. (and affected my spelling!)

Good to see another shiney on here, even if you did quit early. 6 postings in as many years is some going, and makes my record of 7 in 14 look completely amateurish.

Welcome.:PDT_Xtremez_27:

Thanks for the welcome TBJ. Is it my maths? Always thought it was 5 in 7 years. (Cranwell was training). It was the norm then, all about whizzing you round all the SHQ jobs before packing you off to be Org3ci at Brampton or somewhere stimulating, in time for elevation. As I had the RAFG tour early and the rest had been in STC, I was sure it was RAFSC foreverafter. Anyway, I'd had far too good a time in Germany to be in the first wave of elevations and, at that time, a PC was a massive step in time commitment so I didn't go for a PC (hence the wrong bar thing but maybe I'm being too obscure).

Don't take this the wrong way, but when I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was about someone questioning his sexuality!!! Thebn when I read it, I realised it was an intro.

Welcome to the Goat. You don't happen to have a set of front brake calipers for a 1976 Morris Marina, do you? Any late model will do, including Morris Itals.

Thanks for the welcomes.

Not as such, I'm afraid. Weren't Marinas re-vamped Morris 1000s? But then I sold my Moggie in 1980, so not much help there, either. Sorry
