Don't usually read the RAF News but had an article pointed out to me today about an ICT Tech qualification being offered with IET.

Anyone gone for this / know anything of it?

You will have to join the IET or another institution in order to apply for ICT Tech. It is not a qualification per se more a mark of professional status, in the same vein as Incorporated Engineer, Engineering Technician and Chartered Engineer.

IT/ICT apprentices can be fast tracked to ICT Tech and TMIET, I'd contact a learning advisor (use the details on the IET site) and let them advise you. A copy of your skills, experience and qualifications will let them best advise you.

Hope that helps mate. Once you have ICT Tech,I think you can apply for a City & Guilds Licentiateship as well.

Annual membership over £100 for a handful of letter, hmmm.

Which will be of absolutely no benefit to you until you leave the RAF. Don't even bother looking into it yet, you'll be ripping yourself off.

They've been paddling this pump at TMT for a while now and the sensible guys tell them to poke off.

The IET state on their website that they will waive the fee for RAF personnel.

They waive the admin and joining fees, but still want the annual subscription of around £80. All TG4 (ex-TG3) should walk into given their technical training and background. The rest of TG4 will have to document evidence to prove competence as ICT Techs. From horses mouth at Tossford.
