Has anyone else heard that apparently although PMA advertised they were looking for 50, at the last minute it changed to 30 ?
Confirmed at 50 by a reliable source.
Rumours are great because I heard it was between 20 - 30 from a very reliable source only this week. DT_Xtremez_42:

Told 25 Yesterday by PMA ? :0
cheers for that but what are TG4 WG notes and does that mean a limit of 20? or they don't need any more than 20 now?I've seen the TG4 WG notes & the word is no more than 20 to be promoted

Some people do talk absolute twoddle. SDSR has had absolutely no impact on what Manning do with the promotion board. The quota was 52, this is an anticipated requirement to meet projected vacancies. However, things change, posts become disestablished and also established so there is never a hard and fast amount that have to be used. Manning have released up to 23 so far to meet expected requirements. I can categorically tell you that once the board had been ratified the desk was quick to try and get the word out that they only realistically expected to use between 20-30 personnel. As of today that is still the case.
There is possibly going to be another release but this is in response to the NATO piece which is causing a headache for the drafters at the minute. Once that is cleared up then they will, if required, release some more to the board. The NATO piece has also thrown up some potential WO posts which means promotion from FS, this then cascades down.
So as you can see it is all about remaining fluid and being able to react to ever changing circumstances. Manning have never made a secret of the fact that they did not see the quota being used and so far they are fairly accurate with their prediction of 20-30. This years promotion list will close around Jan time so whatever happens next is likely to be the last batch.
How do I know all this - because I work there so you really are hearing it from the horse's mouth, so to speak.
I think what our HR people should take from this is that we're all real people not just numbers that appear on a spreadsheet. Information is not power these days so why not use the Manning Website for what it's intended and disseminate the information. Perhaps by doing that the trade desks will take a few less phone calls and E mails on the same subject.
