Hey thanks for moving it and I don't really know any acronyms or whatever they are called so I might need some patience from you guys I take it GT is gen tech? And MT mechanical technician or something? If so what's the difference?

What I would like to know is how long is the trade training last for and how does the training plan out for example classroom or workshop with mentor or by yourself ect? Also what do you make of the lifestyle and what's the travel opportunities like for a general technician mechanical job role? I really want to find as much info as I can so if you have any info or past experiences it would be much appreciated if u shared it :)

Geordie_Chris,
Due to my age and having been out for two years, I can not comment on the current situation as regards to training etc or indeed travel.
GET = General Engineering Technician which is what Warrant Officers and Flight Sergeants trade annotation was after the re-naming. MT = Mechanical Transport, trucks, specialised transport, fire vehicles, snow clearing equipment etc.

Nope sorry not joking... I applied for the role last year. I was waiting for PRTC dates, and got an email from the AFCO in jan the role was closed and wouldn't be open until at least April next year. The lucky ones who applied the same time as me aren't going on PRTC until at least September this year.

I have gone for amm instead.
