Hi there, I am considering going for a commission. I am a serving SNCO (A Tech AV). I was registered with the CIL for Personnel Officer but the branch is currently shut. My first choice has always been Intelligence and I've heard that it may open before Personnel Officer does. I was wondering if anyone on Egoat could tell me up to date info about the branch. How long is the training, where is it done, what kinds of things are covered, what would your first and second tours typically be, if you're not a SQINTO what other jobs are you likely to be doing and where, what opportunities are there for serving overseas, are there any specific aptitude tests at OASC, how does promotion work in the branch. I'm hoping to arrange a visit with the station Int O to chat about the branch but any info I could get here would help me decide whether to change my branch choice or not right now in case it does reopen. Thanks, Puma Fixer (not on Puma's anymore though!)

If you need to ask egoat I think you failed to meet the entrance requirements.

As a potential officer candidate, why not use a smidge of initiative and have a chat with one of the Sq Int Os at your location, or the OC Int on station. They will point you in the right direction. Failing that, there are Int recruiting pages on the AWC intranet/MOSS site.

I'll tell you this, the aptitude tests can be a bit of a arse; I had a go last year and missed the pass mark by 3 - and they were just about to put it up from 95 to 115 (because basically they can); The bloke said all the old giffers struggle...

...on the other hand, I am also pretty dim.
