Can any of you shed some light on a question i have please.

The question is "can Cpls hold inventories and under what circumstances?"

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, the IT inventory in Bahrain is held by a TG3 Cpl so I'd guess it's when there are no SNECs around.

Without digging into the JSP/AP whatever it is these days, and thinking back to those dark days when I had a shiny inventory clerks job, there was the option of allowing - with OC Logs specific authority - a JNCO to be an inventory holder. It was done on a case by case business and needed some sort of supporting request from said NCO's boss. Nothing major, just something along the lines of "......Cpl X has no direct SNCO supervision and manages all this test equipment.....blah, blah......" Basically your boss would be certifying that you were more than capable of carrying out the duties of a grown up :)

Yes a Cpl can have a Inventory when no Snco is available but it must be reviewed every 6 months

with hope the new JSP 886 wil sort things out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"a. An inventory holder or a deputy, nominated in accordance with the instructions given below, is to be an Officer, WO, SNCO, or Civilian of equivalent status on the unit. In exceptional circumstances OC Supply may give dispensation for a JNCO to be appointed as an inventory holder. This responsibility is not to be delegated. Where a suitably qualified person is not available as a deputy, the OC Supply may, exceptionally, approve the appointment of a JNCO or Civilian of equivalent status."
