Hello,
I am seeking many parts for the JP...
Anyone on this forum know of the where abouts of Dowty hydralic seals, o-rings...OVERHAUL KITS for most any or all rams, valve, accumulator, hand pumps etc,etc for a Mk5.A...Also searching for many other parts...
I have WX412 and I am seeking not only parts but the stories...
Can you help me?
The airplane now resides in the US (don't hold that agains't me!) and is undergoing inspection...
Any and all information, leads, etc is welcome...
Cheers,
Scott Quamme

When I worked at Halton Airfield many moons ago breaking up JP's to sell to civvies was one of our main jobs. 2 of my SNECs got busted for nicking stuff straight out of stores and selling it to the people buying the JPs. That led to my very 1st interview with the SIB which was quite scary as a newly promoted SAC.

Have you tried Google for the bits you're looking for? There's even a site called www.jetprovostheaven.com that looks full of useful info for you.

If you keep your ear to the ground there may be a few more complete Mk 5A JPs coming onto the market later in the year if you are happy to wait for spares. I'm sure you'll be able to make one good one from them all if you tried hard enough.

I seem to recall that the JP "IPT" is now at Cosford (keeping up the appearance of maintaining the airworthiness of Training/Instructional airframes) and dear deceased old friend said that "their" policy changed to replacing original seals with those from commercial (i.e. super-glued) DIY Seal Kits instead of paying for airworthy items that may now be hard to find/source.

I don't know the "RAF Cosford" phone number, nor do I have access to it, but I'm sure someone on e-goat might be able to supply it.

Good Luck

Rigga

Do you know the Jet's history? Out of a line of jets the only one I remember is XW431 (Mk 5B) which was Tail letter "A" at 6 FTS. I loved working on JPs it was like keeping a ford escort going easy to work on and reliable.
