Its spelt Kandahar for starters.........................or if you want to be a pedant Qandahar or even کندهار, or قندهار depending on whether you speak Pashto or Persian.

It's quite cushy thanks to the Yanks and Canadians. Take lots of dollars for the various coffe shops and PX!!!!! There used to be a market as well which had all sorts of unimaginable tat. Prepare for lots of haggling!

I think there is also wi-fi in the rooms there. Seemed like a cushy camp alot more there than bastion anyway.

Got back in June. Blocks good, food, excellent, facilities superb. You get rocketed now and the, don't worry its not as bad as Basra. Karaoke on a Saturday in the MWR is bizzare! Sober Septics who think they can sing! Jobs are good as you are there for one thing, support to the frontline. Days off according to your shift roster, there's not much else to do if you aren't at work anyway! Jingly market on Saturday, anything you buy funds the Taliban so its up to your consience!
