Labour Defence Review

  • Following weeks of work, the E-GOAT team are delighted to present to you a new look to the forums with plenty of new features. Take a look around and see what you think!
Limited, controlled, minimal pay rises; unheard of and totally radical...
Another Pension review for efficiencies.

Bin Tempest if other countries look likely to drop out, that trade deal won't quiet look so special then. The Japanese economy thanks to them basically not having kids for the last 30 years (honour and not bringing shame on the family makes them work 100+hr weeks instead) is looking rather ropey at the moment, and even we are set to overtake it within the next decade.

Tempest, Tanks and Aircraft Carriers are more part of the UKs industrial strategy rather than it’s defence one, it would be good to think a long term plan that could lead to an effective and stable military in the UK, however this would need cross party support otherwise the next change, whenever that is, will just result in another review.

Defence and Policing should be, an absolute, sitting above politics and ringfenced, not worshipped like the NHS (creating its own issues there), give them both a non-political governance and a fair budget and allow them just to get on with it.

Look at real efficiency savings, and make the tough decisions on scrapping made-up jobs. Start by scrapping messes.

All jokes aside, the recent restructure of DE&S has resulted in more 2* / 3* roles being created when they keep harping on about a 'Servant Leadership' system to be put in place. By that, it doesn't look like they are in it to carve up too much to induce meaningful cost savings.

Great examples of saving a few pennies, whilst the pounds walk out the door….

My cynicism about the change knows no bounds...

One of the Defence Reviews in the 90s ( Front Line First/Options??) actually created a third Command HQ when everything else was being chopped.

Starmer is apparently cooling the stance towards Tempest so it wouldn't surprise me if if Labour kills off the project with the subsequent death of associated jobs, present and future.

What will Labour come up with if they do pull the plug More off the shelf F35's or perhaps a squadron of multi coloured hot air balloons?

Who knows?

Seems the press have also noticed the new governments revised cooling of the tempest project.

I do not disagree. That also includes the primary industries required to supply the secondary ones. We need to produce our raw materials and refine them. The bloody P and O cruise liner I sailed on in may was built in bloody Germany 2 years ago!

Review completed with the following conclusions.
With the introduction of more modern kit we need less platforms, but armed with our shiny new multi function platforms we will still pack a considerable punch.
The reduction in manpower enables us to laser focus personel in precise ways on specific tasks.
The reduction also reduces the overall salary bill and allows the sale of unused MOD land at benefit to the taxpayer.
To sum up there will be less bodies, less kit and we will spend less money but the British armed forces capability will be enhanced guv

You need to get out of Cosford a bit more..

Bin Tempest and the UK will lose its last bit or experience needed to be able to design and build a fighter aircraft. Those involved in Typhoon and still working in the sector are dwindling rapidly…within 3 years most will have gone and their corporate knowledge with them….then we will be wholly dependent on the USA, and probably the crazy orange one for our fast movers and the insanely expensive spares and support packages that come with them.

My bold. If they don't get the colours 'correct' , they'll be redundant before they're declared CR.
