One of my collegues has inputted on JPA his LTD. He has heard nothing as yet, the question is will he get a posting through his Work Flow or what? Assistance greatly appreciated as he is sweating:PDT_Xtremez_35: .

The best thing for him to do is to speak to his career manager (drafter) when the door is open again next week.

The drafter will be notified (through workflow I guess) that a LTD request has been submitted. That doesn't necessarily mean that a posting will come through immediately or even at all. As ever, it depends on availability. CMs will make every effort to meet a LTD request short of moving somebody out of a post just to move your colleague in (unless he is a WO).

If/when an assignment order is issued, your colleague will be notified through workflow. These days he will probably know by virtue of a phone call before the button is pressed on JPA.

Hope this helps

TBJ is correct. The next vacancy that arises in the county will necessitate the CM extracting a list of LTD applicants for that area. Normal rules then apply for LTD applicants (appropriate engagement etc).

Is there any info in the 3392 Vol2, or any new DIN/JSP that gives any influence on a WO being any different?

Yeah it's definitely in the Vol 2, but I'm at home so can't give you the ref. Probably Chapter 15 somewhere in there. In essence, Manning can move someone if they have a WO LTD applicant for a particular area, subject to the normal checks and balances etc.

I'll qualify my statement above by saying it's 18 months since I last drafted so things may have changed.

Thanks chaps thats great TVM, sorry but I forgot to mention that he has appiled for his own job.

Shouldn't be a problem then. Manning will check there are no other LTD vols, if there are they will check who is most entitled (appropriate engagement, enlistment date etc). If he/she fits the bill they will re-post on LTD in same post. Get him to speak to Drafter, sorry Career Manager, in the next couple of weeks.

I've just spent far too long trying to find it in JSP 755 and ASPSIs without success. Here is the LINK to the Vol 2 for those with intranet but be aware that this leaflet has not been amended since Sep 05, i.e., pre-JPA.

LTD Overseas

LTD Overseas

I believe a LTD overseas (for example Cyprus) is all the rage at the moment, as long as you can 'prove' you intend to settle there (well thats hard isn't it...not).

Just wondered what everyone thought, great if you are at LTD stage but with so very few overseas places to go my perosnl opinion is that they should not be allowed.

Any CM wish to advise if this is the case and what priority it is given? - probably top priority.

What was wrong with the old list - you apply for overseas service and wait your turn; I did but then JPA wiped this out.......bitter and twisted?? me - of course I am but having waited 8 yrs on the list and then to have it binned left a bit of a sour taste in my gob I can tell you.

discuss........

Been covered to death in any number of other threads, but with the reduction in CMs and the inability of JPA to accurately maintain an OVR it is not practical. Simply, posts are trawled and those want to go at that time reply stating their interest.

Any system will always meet the aspirations of some and not others. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply, could of been written by an ex-drafter......

Seriously though, understand all the points but do you really think it is that difficult to meet the criteria for a LTD overseas.....? So what if you meet it all then change your mind, ok you might have to pay for your repat but I suggest 2 1/2 years LOA will lessen that blow.

Anyway, need to be careful not to have so many LTD people overseas - be full of OAP's...lol

Although it has been 'covered to death' t'is my opinion that the list should of been phased out rather than just binned straight away.

Pity I wan't one of those lucky few who managed to secure an overseas before the list went down the swanny......although I do know of a couple.

Jobs are trawled for now which I recognise is a good thing in some ways - especially now we see what the job is and it must be easier for CM's to manage. However, being able to pick and choose if you know you have a strong hand is perhaps not. Put yourself in the position I (and others I know of) were in, to suddenly have the rug pulled from under you is not a nice feeling. Yes i know it's the Air Force not the fair Force....but before my wife asks a PQ thought I would get some feedback.

Ah well, I will keep trying until I can put in my LTD......... Then again I bet I don't meet the criteria.
