Anyone else seen the Snippets page??

I paraphrase 'The Joint Airspace Management Course run by the School of fighter Control at Boulmer is a pre-requisite for deployment for FOMs and for Cpl/SAC's extra elements to TTF and TMT will be added to heighten awareness of the OOA task'

Good stuff.

Finally some sense in the Flight Ops world, realising the superior quality of TG12 training!

Seriously though, will be good to see some of your guys up here although I am not convinced that this is the correct course to do, more a feeling that the square peg has been rounded off.

In my personal opinion maybe a new course, aimed at JRs, should be introduced for this type of thing.

The more prep before deploying the better. I do have the following questions:

1. If we have to do this course to cover the job when OOA, will the scopies be picking up some of our ops slots and helping us to reduce the turnround times for Cpls and Sgts.

2. If this is not the case and we are going to be in a postion of covering TG12 jobs when OOA will our turnround times be reduced any more?

3. Does TG12 have a shortfall of SNCOs in a scale like TG9? If they do can we expect their OOA slots to be downgraded to Cpls even if there are several Flt Sgts available for the task?

4. Always did suspect that Fomz was the type of Mod to read "contact mags"

1. If we have to do this course to cover the job when OOA, will the scopies be picking up some of our ops slots and helping us to reduce the turnround times for Cpls and Sgts. This is happening at SAC Level, we have a negative FMDL at Cpl and releasing certain Sgts due to a shortage of their speciality may be a problem

2. If this is not the case and we are going to be in a postion of covering TG12 jobs when OOA will our turnround times be reduced any more? Trade amalgamation may deal with this

3. Does TG12 have a shortfall of SNCOs in a scale like TG9? If they do can we expect their OOA slots to be downgraded to Cpls even if there are several Flt Sgts available for the task? There are not currently any OOA slots for ASM Sgts other than with FUs or FI. There are OOA FS Dets that I believe we may have taken off you already.

4. Always did suspect that Fomz was the type of Mod to read "contact mags" 'Nuff said!

The JAM Course was originally aimed at TG12 SNCO/FC JOs prior to employment in JFACC HQ type appointments and to those purple bretheren working in similar organisations. Since TELIC more and more has been squeezed into the course without a proper training review ever taking place. Whilst I agree that some training is better than none at all my initial concerns is that the course is not fit for purpose (not due to the SFC or any instructor failings before anyone from the SFC jumps on me!). Time will tell though and it is incumbant on those attending the course then going OOA to tell the training provider/sponsor where the shortfalls are.
