Hello,
I just wanted to say that LZ played an amazing set the other night!
It was awesome!
A great night, and well worth the effort.

Here's hoping there is truth in the rumour that they are to tour next year.
That's all.:PDT_Xtremez_14:

Best do this here, rather than in the intro thread!

I'm jealous as hell. I hope that you go deaf from hearing damage caused at the gig!:PDT_Xtremez_15:

Seriously though, I'm glad it was a good gig. It would have been awful (but unlikely) if, after all the hype, they had put on a cr@p show.

But WTF were they thinking booking the O2 arena. They could have filled a medium-sized county!

Personally, I think they should have looked at Wembley or maybe Don Valley or somewhere big enough to accomodate the masses.
The Z list celebrities who got promotional invites should have been binned to allow more true fans to attend.
Mind you - they were awesome. A dream come true.

Fingers crossed for you that they do tour next year - the rumours are rife.

If only Pink Floyd would tour again!! As one who listens to Planet Rock on DAB daily, I say you can't beat the proper rock bands who, in my opinion have contributed more to music than the likes of f@cking X factor will ever do.

I've got a bit of spleen venting to do though - why is it that the same people that used to slag rock music off now think that Led Zeppelin and Ozzy Osbourne are cool?

I, for one, have never slated rock music - nor will I ever.
It has been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember.
And it will outlast all these names like the Spice Girls, Westlife, Christina Agu-whatsit, and the like.
It is food for the musical soul - real music - raw guitars, drums which have your heart pounding and your feet tapping - and vocals with emotion.
I have been lucky and have seen quite a few good gigs this year - and next years wish list is fast filling up.
However - in years to come, I will still be listening to it. How many X Factor winners and pop tripe types will still have the same loyal following?

I've got no major problems if the 'celebs' are fans. I heard Dave Grohl in an interview and he was like an excited little kid when talking about going which is fine, but I was well p1ssed off when I heard Moyles on the radio saying it was very good but he wished he knew more tracks:PDT_Xtremez_25:

'Cos a couple of bands give them a name check and the sheep come out in droves.

What p1sses me off if bands that rip-off classic acts to the point where they sound EXACTLY the same and the critics/press love them. That's right Wolfmother I'm looking at YOU.

The likes of Paris Hilton - what was she doing there?
That is what annoyed me.

As for bands sounding like their heroes - well one new band worth listening to have to be Airbourne - their new album "Runnin Wild" is excellent - and very AC/DC influenced - with a smattering of Rose Tattoo thrown in.

However - new bands who do not acknowledge their influences annoy me too.

I would have loved to have been at that show, Led Zep are one of the few bands that I love that I have never seen.
Have to disagree with TLS's comments about Wolfmother, I saw them earlier this year and they were awesome, yes, they may have robbed their sound from somebody else, but mimicry is the best form of flattery.

While you're on the subject of recommending bands, can I suggest Black Stone Cherry, well worth a listen and very good live.

Shows like X Factor are slowling killing real music, glorified fooking karaoke.

I'll second that for Black Stone Cherry (I've still got that cd and as possession is 9/10 of the law you're not having it back!)
By the way are you and Duvetconsultant seperated at birth?

Why do you ask that?
Am I missing something here?

And I can honestly say that it was fantastic.
I have to say - it was better than the AC/DC gig in '79 at Stratford - and that has always taken some beating.

And, if we want to keep recommending bands - check out DragonForce and Tequila Rockin' Bird. Both worthy of a listen for those of a rock mentality.

Not heard anything by Black Stone Cherry to my knowledge - can you recommend anything?

(Sorry - spot the deliberate mistake!! I meant Stafford, not Stratford - it is my age, and I knew what i meant!)

I would like to recomend some Black Stone Cherry, but as I have just found out, wgaf has my only Cd of theirs. Try searching youtube for them, there is loads of good stuff from them on there.

I've seen Dragonforce 4 times, 1st time as an unheard of band supporting W.A.S.P. in Glasgow, then in their own headline show in Aberdeen and 2 apearances at Download festival. Their guitar duos are a sight to behold!

I think the reference from wgaf about us being seperated at birth is because you seem to hold very similar musical tastes and views as me, which certainly aint a bad thing :)

Well I will have to take your word on our likeness - although I have read the list of bands you have seen - and it is impressive - so, credit where it is due fella!:PDT_Xtremez_30:

As for BSC - will have a download later - and let you know!
DO check out Airbourne though - they are about to release Runnin Wild in the UK in the New Year - but they are good.
Will try and post a clip soon.

Airbourne - Too Much Too Young Too Fast.

And what is rumoured to be the new single here - has been released elsewhere - Diamond In The Rough (not sure if it is work safe or not - maybe not.)

I like that a lot, definately a band to look out for.
They seem very AC/DC influenced, not a bad thing of course.

Fcuk me I was at that AC/DC gig at Stafford in 79. Then LZ must have been good!

Airbourne gonna be big!!! Get em supporting Acca Dacca next year !

They aren't bad at all - thanks for the heads up. Think I have heard some stuff by them as they sound familiar.

Cant resist posting these just for the hell of it now!

DragonForce -

And keep your ears open for these guys - debut album out in the New Year (although I have a copy and it is fantastic).

Tequila Rockin' Bird
