Hello all

I am considering applying for a 3 year post at Pax River NAS, MD. I was wondering what allowances and other stuff i would be entitled to if i was successful in my application.

I have contacted the drafter but unfortunately he has no info to pass out at the moment as it was a fast ball.

The obvious one i know about is LOA £18.60 a day i think.
LSA?
Rent
furnishing the house out there
buying a car
Get you home warrant things

Furniture removals/storage, disturbance.

We also have a daughter 8 years old. Schools? boarding school not an option.

It is a big and very tempting step to take so would like as much info as possible before the wife makes the decision.

Thanks in advance for all replies as they will help make our decision

Don't do it (says somebody who has applied for the same job)

AFAIK the RAF pays removals just like they do to any other oversea's location.

Did I mention, don't apply (I want it)

You know its only out in orders to make it look like there are good jobs for the great unwashed and not just the orifices.

By the way I do believe that the drafters are looking for about 6 SNCO's to man the PMA desks, apparently they're all posted to Maryland...lol:PDT_Xtremez_30:

The obvious one i know about is LOA £18.60 a day i think. - This does change but the latest rates are fairly widely published now so you should be able to check

LSA? Not for an accompanied tour

Rent - You will pay normal MQ charges, including CILOCT

furnishing the house out there - these doos normally have furnished hirings etc, you will get some removals but only about 15 cu m, the house will have all the basics you need

buying a car - possibly get the tax off new ones, not sure, depends on the agreement in place. usually get out there and buy one and in certain places you can get an allowance for it i seem to remember. quite often there are handme downs to have from people leaving

Get you home warrant things - something like once every 5 months

Furniture removals/storage, disturbance. yeah, as above, and yes to dist allce

We also have a daughter 8 years old. Schools? boarding school not an option. - depends, you will most likely be able to get them into a local school, if this doesnt suit it will be a showstopper obviously

Slightly Off Topic but if it's the JSF work up, I'm led to believe it's now at Edwards AFB (Los Angeles), what a p1sser!:PDT_Xtremez_28:

Jobs filled. I am off, new merc in a container at the docks as we speak. Houise with pool waiting at the other end. See ya.

Can't wait to see your face with the fuel prices and car insurance! Would also pay to see you jump in the frozen pool that would occur at Pax River in Jan!!

i was looking at it today on the manning list, no more than 3 years as a snec but i cant remember how many snecs they wanted of each trade, sat with the with the wife wondering if i should apply as its an adventure for all. plus as there are no more overseas anywhere and i fancy a change i might just put in the paperwork ((((and not get it))))) but you will not know unless you try ...................................
