One for the Shiney's please. I have been off work sick since June this year and am likely to have this extended for another 3 months later this month. My concern is at what point I will be posted non-effective and at what point does my pay (currently still on full pay) get reduced to statutory sick pay? Thanks in advance for your help during what is a difficult time for me.

Don't worry BJW, unlike our civilian counterparts you remain on full pay while off sick, no matter how long that is.

To clarify, after being off for 56 days you may get made non effective and could potentially be "posted" to allow your slot to be filled by someone else.

I'm led to believe the "posting" is paperwork only.

As to your pay dropping, I've no idea, but it seems that everyone else says it doesn't.

From past experience, unless the OP's section kick up a fuss, it's quite possible that he won't be made non-effective. My Sqn had someone who was off sick for over 9 months, but when we queried, it had not been continuous because he always went sick on his 1st day after his previous chit had expired. I did, however, persist and eventually Manning and the Med Centre agreed to make him non-effective as he had no intention of returning to work.
