I despise Man Ure as only a true northern football fan can. Yet I hope they thrash Glasgow home and away and put an end once and for all to the daft notion that either Glasgow club could hack the premier league. They (Glasgow) have four important games a season, therefore they can throttle back the rest of the time, and they know full well that even in the bad times the worst they can do is come second. Having to contend with 38 competitive games is alien to them having to try week in week out is unheard off. If ever they are allowed to play south of the border the Chumpionship beckons now if they can get out of that divison, then spend millions and beef up the squad then maybe just maybe they could keep a place in the premiership.

No-one seems to be interested in football on here. If you posted a thread on

Medals
The Fitness Test
Begging (Charities)
Chillis
Motor Racing

then you will probably get a response.

We can't compete with the English sides right now. We just do not have the TV income that the English Premiership sides get. We are very well supported and if we were to move down South, and there does appear to be some appetitie for it, then we would eventually be able to compete. Interestingly Ferguson mentioned the financial problems at Ibroz during his interview today - he said he had offered Walter Smith 2 players on loan last season but we couldn't afford their wages. Completely different financial playing field unfortunately.

Gordon Strachan, an ex Glasgow manager has assembled his own SPL select XI at Middlesborough and they are struggling in early season championship games, going the other way James Beattie ex Sheffield Utd and ex Stoke City is now the front man for Glasgow Rangers. Yes I agree the money levels are miles apart and consequently so is the affordable talent available.

Secretly I hope taggerts primos get hammered and shrek's stunt double kops a load of well deserved stick whilst Gary Neville is being shown the red card. Oh happy days

I think the key point is in the highlighted bit TB. Strachan's managerial career is largely unimpressive with the exception of his time at Celtic; and even that had some toe-curlingly embarassing moments. Elsewhere he's achieved the square root of funk-all - his 'end of the pier comedian' moments in post match interviews are more memorable.

My dear chap,i think the most important point you are missing is the comersial potential of the glasgow giants.
Celtic shirt sales world wide are eclipsed only by Man U.

If Celtic or rangers were in the premier then your next Russian oligarc bilionare or oil shiek that comes along is more likely to want to invest in them, add that to 65000 home crowds,history(5 european finals between them)and intrest in America for both and Japan and china for Celtic and i think that all adds up to you talking through your @rse old boy.

If a multi billionaire bought a struggling club and poured endless resources into it what you describe could happen. Look at Man City heck given a big enough cheque book even Accrington Stanley could be in the champions league in a few years all it takes is millions and millions of dollars. The fact lots turn up each week doesn't mean you get lavish amounts of money thrown at you look at Newcastle Utd thousands turn up week in week out they even turn out in large numbers just to watch the training sessions FFS and their still skint. You lot need to content yourselves with a nice bottle of buckie, a shirt with Lisbon 67 on the back and concentrate on fighting the other lot, whilst wondering how to get past the champions league group stages.

Pray may i ask TB who are your boyhood heroes?

Michael Colin Cowdrey an opening batsman of immense class, the very epitome of cool under pressure, played the game and faced life with a straight bat, a good egg and all round decent chap, England Captain and gentleman.

Closer to home David Hargreaves aka haggis (really it was his nickname). Haggis and I went to school together, But his true claim to fame is that he is Accrington Stanleys all time leading goal scorer amassing 318 goals in his career.

"1975-76 Stanley scored 104 goals in the season. David Hargreaves was the clubs top scorer for this season scoring 56 goals in 44 games, a club record that has yet to be broken."

Oh to have a 56 goal a season striker today.

And you'll kiss goodbye to your national team as well.

A whole five finals between them eh? Wow :PDT_Xtremez_14:

The manc coppers aren't taking any chances. They have ordered all rangers fans to go to the jib/dw stadium in wigan to collect their tickets and they will then be bussed to old trafford. Let them wreck the jib instead.

We will smash em....but only fun because they are Scottish big game for them not for us.......proper game on Sunday, looking forward to the nice friendly atmos!!!! Ref bussing from JJB good idea assuming all the travelling fans have tickets...I would anticipate several thousand without again and fun and games before and after the game!!!!!

I think the ones at the jib have the tickets but there will be a fair few without who will be in mancland today. As for Sunday there's only one team and it won't be taggerts.
