Can any admin genius' shed a bit of light on married quarters for me. I'm currently in private rented accommodation but I'm getting wed in 10 weeks (14th March) and wondered how I go about getting quarters. I may only be at CRN until July though it could be longer, will this be an issue?
Also I've heard a vicious rumour that you can get interest free loans for deposits on new builds? Is this really true and how in the name of sir glen does one go about applying?

Help me goats!

Housing regs in JSP 464 - your PSF should hold or be able to print application.
Interest Free Loan must be LSAP, again speak to your PSF. Any other gen in regard to housing suggest you Google Joint Services Housing Advice Office (JSHAO).

Think this is the (upto) 8.5K you can apply for and start paying back if within 10 years of discharge date. Interest free if you occupy the house if not (buy to rent) you pay bank of england rate of interest. Over 5k and it affects your personal tax allowance i think.

As usual, lots of rules and all contained within the jsp.

Thanks team. I've looked at the loan option but you need to have served a whopping 4 years since phase 1 so that's out. As for the married accommodation it says you normally need to be at that post for at least 6 months but I have yet to find out where I'll be after June. Anyone know of any precedents for shorter tenancies?

If I remember correctly, the entitlement to a MQ is an expectation to be at that location 6 months. You said in your original post "it could be longer" than July.

If there's no Assignment Order on record, then you are at that location ufn.

A good point well made. I've put TFN in the 'end of assignment' date box. I'm sure DE will find some reason to return it but fingers and toes crossed etc.

I bet if my surname was Wales and I was a ginger I'd get a MQ straight away...
