Wondering if any goters can help? Just finished my service and am in quarters and could do to stay in it until I get my future housin sorted out (should be done by the end of the month). My questions are:

1. Does DHE send me a letter of notice to vacate, if so when.
2. How much notice do they give me.
3. As I'm out of the RAF will I still be required to march out.
4. What do I do about rent etc as I assume that all my pay etc has now stopped.

Have looked on the MOD and DHE websites but no clear info, and I don't really want to phone them at this moment.

Any help with this is much appreciated.

Cheers AB

My mate ignored them and ended up squatting in his quater for over a year. Not the recommended course of action but I don't think you'll have any problems if it is for only a month. You may have to pay more rent though.

They should have sent some paperwork out within your last 6 months with a date to vacate. However IF you have nowhere else to go and are currently waiting for a place to become available (rent, mortgage, council etc) as long as you let them know they are normally very helpful.

We should have been out in Feb but still in FMQ as our mortgage application has dragged on and on. We now pay a higher rate of rent (equivalent to civvy rates) but as long as we keep them informed and pay every month they seem happy enough. They review the situation every 3 months.

I assume this depends how many spare quarters they have where you are but up here there are quite a few spare !
