Just installed McAfee 2008 on my vista 32bit laptop and to my horror my system now crashes whenever i open the mcafee menu up or internet explorer. Im using my comp in safe mode atm and its ok. Any one else heard of this and know any remedys??

Any error messages mate?
 
yeah did a sys restore and it goes back fine with norton on there but my subscription is up for that so i got mcafee. It error messages i get are just the blue screen of death sayin uninstall new hard/soft ware etc. really helpful stuff.....

Just dissable or delete your norton stuff from control panel.

I don't have any of these pay stuff on now......slow things down and they cost !!....AVG all the way !!!!!

Sounds like it could be a conflict between Norton and McAfee. As TM said, delete Norton - pile of 5hite.
 
Norton made my pc crash when i got legitimate windows XP

Norton is the wotrst thing that has ever happened to PC users

avoid it like the bird flu

Is that a cracked license key or a legitimate one? Because as we all know e-goat doesn't condone the use of illegal software/cracks.

As has been said on here many times before AVG is free and is low on system resources.
 
well i got a 3 PC licence with mcafee all for £10 which was nice. Tried goggling everything and it seems its quite a common fault for vista to crash when either opening tinterweb explorer or during a system scan although i have not found anything yet to sort it. Grr.
 
I use Vista with McAfee - never had a problem. Can you access your error logs and find out what happens immediately before the crash? I'll bet it's got something to do with Norton. Have you completely removed Norton yet?

it is totally a pukka gen code. i bought it from "pcsystemsoftware" on ebay and you also register the codes with bullguard themselves so you can continue to get free updates.

norton is defo removed. Have use all the proper tools from the norton site to make sure its all gone. i'm tryin to download the 2008 version from the mcafee website but it keeps comming up with that problem with webpage thingy when i hit download. hoping its a problem with their end and not mine. Im running with just windows firewall atm as ive taken everything else off.
 
In that case, why not simply download AVG free, you may even decide it's good!
 
Agree with Pingdit, eventually managed to remove Norton, now use FREE AVG, no problems at all, plus no more endless warnings that the world is about to end!!!!:PDT_Xtremez_42:
 
sorted now. had a live chat with the technical team and after changing some ip settings it all sorted. cheers anyway guys!
